Mitsubishi Galant Rally Car
This was the team’s first rally car. Though it met a quick, tragic demise at the hands over an overzealous driver (Eli), it was amazingly reliable, safe, cheap, and most of all fun.
We purchased the car in early 2005 from Tom Grossman in Las Vegas for $850. The car had been a more-or-less abandoned ‘zero car’ (course starting) after it shed a wheel during the 2005 Seed 9 Rally. We gingerly placed it on a trailer and brought it home to perform some major surgery. This bad boy was to get all new safety equipment, some new paint, and parts!
In the year that followed, with help from Bret Norgaard and Mindy especially, the car went from zero to our little hero. We basically stripped it to the shell and rebuilt it from the ground up. We ran Rim of the World in 2007 then after the car was rolled, retired it. We’ll miss you JYD.
